I was lucky enough to witness absolute happiness the other day.
My Mother-in-law was a guest of the Governor of Tasmania (His Excellency, Peter Underwood). The event was the awarding of medals to people who have had Diabetes for either 50 or 60 years. My Mother-In-Law was a guest of honour, as she was awarded her 60 year medal over six years ago… yep, a Diabetic for 66 years, amazing!
I have been to Government House before (when I worked for the ABC) and I enjoyed it much more this time around. To experience this beautiful building nestled on the banks of the Derwent River and to see it through the giddy eyes of a lovely woman who is nearly 80 was truly an honour. It was similar to how you enjoy Christmas Day through your children… I snuck in a couple of photos too!
