A few years ago, a friend and I nearly photographed what was to be the most viewed wedding in the world. Seriously!
I received a phone call from some friends from China who had been contacted by some Chinese “A list” celebrities about their wedding photography in Tasmania – apparently the Chinese love Tasmania because of its heart shape and natural beauty – they say we’re more British than England.
There were lots of hurdles associated with the proposition, like accommodating the entorage that would be travelling with them 20 – 30 people – stylists, magazine photographers, assistants, interpreters, etc. And, a business plan too was required too. They wanted Certain accommodation, car hire, meals, etc.
Another consideration was locations that were imensely private. Businesses were approached (The Federal Group were brilliant) and sample photos were taken.
Here is one of the “sample images at one of the locations – I wanted it to look super Australiana…
Thinking back now, a wedding photographer from Hobart nearly captured wedding photos for a couple who have 60 million social media followers.
New Zealand won the tender. They had a better business plan, but hey, I’m just a photographer and we didn’t have the budget to hire a business manager. Bugger, it would have been fun.
